If your friends and family can’t find your Babylist registry, it’s usually due to your visibility settings or because search engines haven’t finished indexing your registry yet. This article walks you through how to check and update those settings so your registry appears as expected.
Check your registry visibility
Your registry can be set to Public or Private:
- Public: Your registry is searchable on Babylist. If you also select the Google visibility option, it can appear in Google search results within about two weeks.
- Private: Your registry is only accessible through your unique link. It will not appear in search results.
If you change your settings from Private to Public, it may take some time for search engines to reflect that change. If you later make your registry private again, Babylist can request that Google remove the old link from search results.
Update your visibility settings
On the web:
- Log in to your Babylist account.
- Click your name in the upper-right corner.
-
Select Settings > Registry visibility.
You can also go directly to your visibility settings page. - Choose Public or Private, and adjust your Google visibility preference.
In the app:
- Tap Menu (☰) > Registry > Visibility & Privacy.
- Choose your desired privacy setting and tap Save.
Add a password (optional)
By default, visitors don’t need a password to view your registry. If you want an added layer of privacy, check the option Visitors need a password to access my registry in your visibility settings.
Why your registry might still not appear
If your registry is set to Public but still isn’t showing up:
- Recent changes take time: It can take up to two weeks for Google to display your registry if you’ve just turned on search visibility.
- Your registry link may have changed: If you updated your registry name, older links will no longer work. Share your new link directly with friends and family.
- Cached pages: If you test your own registry link and see unrelated or placeholder text (like “Time to celebrate with a special gift”), your browser may be loading an outdated version. Clear your cache or open the link in an incognito window to confirm your registry is active.
