Gifts placed on hold in a cart expire about 48 hours after they are added if the purchase is not completed. Once the hold expires, the item becomes available again on the registry.
If the item is in your cart
- Add an item to your cart.
- The item is placed on hold for about 48 hours.
- Complete your purchase within that time to keep the item reserved.
If you buy the item from Babylist Shop:
- The hold ends automatically after checkout
- The item is marked as purchased on the registry
If you buy the item from another store:
- Complete your purchase on the retailer’s website.
- Return to the registry.
- Select I’ve purchased this to mark the item as bought.
If you do not complete your purchase within about 48 hours, the hold expires and the item becomes available again. To release the hold before it expires, remove the item from your cart.
If the item is in someone else’s cart
When another shopper adds an item to their cart, the registry shows the item as On hold for about 48 hours.
Check the item status later:
- If the item was purchased, it appears as Purchased
- If the hold expired, the On hold label is removed and the item becomes available again
Wait until the hold expires or the status updates before purchasing the same item to avoid duplicate gifts.
