When a gift on a Babylist registry is marked On Hold, it means another gift giver has added it to their cart and plans to purchase it soon. Gifts on hold are reserved for about 48 hours. If the purchase isn’t completed within that time, the hold expires and the item becomes available again.
What each status means
- Available: No one has selected this gift yet—it’s ready to be purchased.
- On Hold: Another gift giver is in the process of buying this gift. To avoid duplicates, wait until the hold expires or the status changes before purchasing it.
- Purchased: The gift has already been bought and marked as completed.
What you can do
If the gift you want is on hold:
- Check back after 48 hours to see if it becomes available again.
- Choose a different gift from the registry in the meantime.
This process helps prevent duplicate gifts and ensures every registrant gets exactly what they need.
