How you pay for a gift depends on where you choose to buy it. You can check out directly on Babylist or complete your purchase on another retailer’s website.
Buy directly from Babylist Shop
- Click Add to cart on the item
- Go to checkout
- Fill out the Who is this from form if prompted
- Select a shipping address and complete your purchase
If the registrant has shared their address, it will appear as a shipping option at checkout. If they haven’t shared it, you can enter a shipping address manually.
After you place your order, Babylist automatically marks the item as purchased and adds tracking details when available.
Buy from another store
- Click on the retailer you would like to purchase from
- Complete your purchase on the retailer’s website
- Enter the shipping address during that retailer’s checkout
Payment happens on the retailer’s website, not on Babylist.
Once you’ve completed your purchase, return to the registry and mark the item as purchased so others know it’s been taken.
Mark a gift as purchased
Marking a gift as purchased helps keep the registry up to date and prevents duplicate gifts.
- Go to the registry
- Find the item you purchased
- Click I purchased this
- Add store details and an optional message
If you marked an item as purchased but didn’t finish checkout, you can go back to the retailer’s website and complete your purchase.
If you need to update anything, return to the registry, find the item, and edit your purchase details.
Shipping address details
Babylist can only show the registrant’s address if they’ve chosen to share it.
- If the address is shared: You’ll see it as a shipping option during Babylist checkout
- If the address is not shared: You won’t see it and can enter an address manually
- When buying from another store: You’ll always enter the address on that retailer’s checkout page
What to know when buying from another store
- Babylist can’t autofill the registrant’s address on external websites
- Enter the shipping address manually if you’d like to ship directly to the registrant
- Select a gift receipt if the retailer offers one

If something doesn’t look right
If you see Purchased by me on an item you didn’t buy, or if something doesn’t look correct, you can go back to the registry and edit the item.
