You can give the same gift automatically every week, month, or year through Early Investor. Set it up when you give, and it continues until you cancel.
Set up a recurring gift
- Open the Early Investor link the parent shared with you.
- Select Give a gift.
- Enter your name, email, and gift amount.
- Choose how often you want to give: weekly, monthly, or yearly.
- Pick the date of your first gift.
- Add your payment method. You can pay by bank account or credit card.
- Review your total, then select Pay and send gift.
You don't need a Babylist account to give.
What you'll be charged
- Your gift amount plus a $1.99 processing fee, each time
- An extra 3% if you pay by credit card
- The total stays the same for the life of your recurring gift
The authorization on the payment screen shows your exact total, how often you'll be charged, and your first gift date.
When each gift is sent
Your gift is submitted on the date you picked, including weekends and bank holidays. It then takes several business days to reach the 529 plan. Timing depends on your payment method and the receiving plan.
If your date doesn't exist in a given month, your gift goes out on the last day of that month. Your regular date picks back up the following month.
Emails you'll get
- A confirmation when you set up your recurring gift
- A receipt each time a gift is sent
- A reminder before each gift, with a link to cancel
Reminders go out 6 business days ahead for monthly and yearly gifts, and 4 business days ahead for weekly gifts.
Cancel a recurring gift
- Open any Babylist email about your recurring gift.
- Select Manage recurring gift.
- Select Cancel all future gifts, then confirm.
Cancel at least 3 business days before your next gift date. If you cancel after that, the next gift may still go through, and your cancellation applies to every gift after it.
Cancelling stops future gifts. It does not refund gifts already sent.
You can also contact Babylist Support to cancel. Reach out as early as you can so we can act within the 3-business-day window.
Change your amount or how often you give
Cancel your current recurring gift, then set up a new one with the amount and frequency you want.
Things to know
- Recurring gifts are available for college funds linked to a 529 plan. 530A (Trump Accounts) accept one-time gifts only, and those gifts are completed on the Trump Accounts site.
- If a payment is returned by your bank or declined by your card issuer, we don't try it again and your recurring gift ends. You can set up a new one at any time.
- If a gift can't be processed within 3 business days of its scheduled date, we skip it. You aren't charged, and your recurring gift continues.
- If the parent deletes their college fund, unlinks their 529 plan, or switches to a 530A, your recurring gift is cancelled. We'll email you.
- If the parent links a different 529 plan, your recurring gift continues and goes to the newly linked account.
- Gifts can't be refunded once they've been sent to the 529 plan.
